The Dark Knight is a 2008 American superhero film co written and directed by Christopher Nolan. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, film is a sequel to "Batman Begins" was released in 2005. Christian Bale again stars in the lead role as Batman. main conflicts of Batman in the film include his fight against the Joker, played by Heath Ledger and his strained friendship with district attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). The Dark Knight opened on July 18, 2008 in the United States with midnight screenings. The Dark Knight set a box office record in one day of $ 67,800,000, breaking a record $ 59,800,000 previously held by Spider-Man 3. The film also topped the $ 151.1 million record opening weekend of Spider-Man 3 with an opening of $ 158,400,000. The Dark Knight has become one of the most successful launches of criticism commercial in years and is already generating Oscar buzz.

For his conception of the film, Nolan was inspired by the Joker first two appearances in comics and Batman: The Long Halloween. The Dark Knight was filmed primarily in Chicago (like Batman Begins), as well as in several other places in the United States, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. The director used an IMAX camera to film six major action sequences, including the first appearance of the Joker in the film.

Warner Bros. created an aggressive viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight, developing promotional websites and trailers highlighting screenshots of Heath Ledger the Joker. After the death of Ledger in January 2008, however, the studio refocused its promotional campaigns.

It is the special edition of The Dark Knight worth buying?

I am thinking of buying the DVD of The Dark Knight sometime this week, and I'm a strong believer in special editions. However, I looked to the special edition and I'm not sure there's much in it that would convince me to buy that version regular widescreen. I am a big fan of commentaries, deleted scenes and extras just in general. Should I buy the special edition? Or should I continue with the widescreen disc? Honestly, I just want opinions. Thanks!

absolutely. its not even my type of movie, but my husband wanted edition limited, and has sooo many features special digital copy for your computer or iPod. its only $ 8 more, so id definitely say purchase the edition limited.
