Would not necessarily have to be a malicious act, maybe just laziness on your part, but if it were a program where I paid for every click on my affiliate link ... I'm not paid. If your username slid own affiliate link, they are paid. If I earned a commission on a purchase, I could not and get you.
There is another reason to cloak your links. If half of the members you owe, you are promoting your link around the Internet. But as we all know, affiliate programs come and go, and so does our interest in any particular program. What happens when you drop a program? You have to struggle to find any place online where the url is dead, so that you can change or remove it. Chances are that not all are.
You can use one of two ways of covering up a link that involve the creation of html files, or use one of the many services that the link layer for you. The advantages to the creation of HTML files on your own domain is that you only need to change them when you place an affiliate program, you get back links to its domain, and you have views to the page you improve your Alexa ranking.

How I can leave my direct purchase contract?
